A Firm Looks at 55
In 1998, one of WSA’s founders wrote a brief history of the firm from its beginnings in 1970. The tone was straightforward. The message was clear. Keep learning. Keep building. Keep earning trust.
That mindset still runs through WSA.
Since 1970, we have worked in a profession that never sits still. Tools change. Cities change. Organizations change. The work changes with them. What has remained constant is our appetite for what comes next and our belief that design can move more than walls.
Today, WSA Studio is built around one idea: transformation. We help clients transform place, people, organizations, and community through integrated architecture, interior design, and environmental communication. We bring research into the front end, so decisions have a reason. We bring craft into the work, so the result holds up. We bring a multidisciplinary team to the table, so the experience reads as one story, not three separate scopes.
That is the throughline from the early years to now. We have always been a design shop that looks forward. We ask better questions, then we draw. We test ideas against how people actually work, learn, and connect. We build environments that communicate, not just function.
This anniversary matters because it marks the scale of that commitment. Fifty-five years of staying curious. Fifty-five years of turning change into opportunity. Fifty-five years of helping clients make the leap from what is to what can be.
Fifty-five years is not a single achievement. It is a long practice of attention. It is the habit of asking better questions. It is the patience to test, revise, and get the details right. It is the confidence to evolve without losing the thread.
We are proud of the work behind us. And we are ready for the work ahead.
