The community building creates a destination where students can come together to study, hang out, and create a sense of belonging. The design team first completed a campus site plan to identify the best location for the new building. In addition, a high-intensity program was outlined which would best fit the building to the needs of the students, faculty, and the university as a whole.

The building is placed to maximize interaction with the adjacent residences. Glass facades are incorporated into the north and south sides of the building to draw visitors into the space and create a sense of transparency. The building features a large gathering room, private study rooms, a kitchenette, a game room lounge, and indoor-outdoor fireplaces and patios. It fulfills the Mansfield campus core values of broad and open access, student-friendly environments, and maintaining Ohio State quality.
